Stand in the old operating theatre so that you see the same view as is shown in the picture. This Operating Theatre was used between 1821 and 1862 to perform operations on the female patients of St Thomas' Hospital. This was before the advent of either antiseptics of Anaesthetics! We now know a lot more about the need to keep things clean and how to keep patients comfortable.

Find five things in the operating theatre that you would change to either make the patient more comfortable or improve their chances of survival. Mark each one with its number on the picture and write what change you would make and why.
